Ethan Blinkhorn, Bladesmith

Bladesmithing is a culmination of my childhood creative urge to re-create everything I saw or read in movies, documentaries, and history. After learning metal fabrication in high school, I attended Vancouver Film School continue my interest in props and prosthetics, and most importantly, the place of “props” in a production. My pursuit of knowledge for the craft has taken me to Thak Ironworks in Ontario (swords) and to Kentucky to work with the incomparable Gil Hibben and Sons (Bowie knife/Rambo blades). After experiencing the passion Gil and his entire family have for bladesmithing, I began bladesmithing part time when not working in film. This has developed into a full time business forged from creative passion. All my custom blades are hand forged from a billet of steel and my production knives are made via stock removal with 440c stainless steel. I am always trying to challenge myself with the craft and find there’s no bigger joy in life than forging steel into a piece of functional art. Thank you for stopping in!
